Anti-Marcos protests to greet Duterte upon arrival from APEC Summit

Groups opposed to the burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani have vowed to hold daily protest actions leading to the big indignation rally set on Friday.<br /><br />

A report by GMA News' Mark Salazar on "24 Oras" on Tuesday said the groups are pressing President Rodrigo Duterte to order the exhumation of Marcos' remains since he was the one who allowed the hero's burial for the former leader.<br /><br />

"Siya ang arkitekto nitong paglilibing ni Marcos sa Libingan ng mga Bayani," said iDefend spokesperson Eleazar Carlos in the report.<br /><br />

"Hawak na ni Presidente Duterte ang dalawa pang sangay ng gobyerno, ang mababa at mataas na kapulungan ng Kongreso, at siyempre ang Hudikatura," he added.<br /><br />

Friday's rally, dubbed as Black Friday Movement, is expected to coincide with Duterte's arrival from his trip to Peru to attend the APEC Leaders' Summit.<br /><br />

The report said the groups are also ready to bring their campaign to social media even in the face of attacks from pro-Marcos loyalists.<br /><br />

"It can be disheartening, it's burdensome as well, but we have to persist," said Kat Leuch of the Block Marcos Movement.<br /><br />

On Monday night, the groups attended a Mass and dialogue at the Church of the Gesu at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City to determine their next steps regarding the planned protests.<br /><br />

Meanwhile, as this developed, Marcos loyalists from Ilocos Norte continued to visit his grave at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.<br /><br />

"Nawa sa pagkakalagak dito ng huling labi ng ating dating pangulo, malagak na rin at maligtas ang napakaraming himutok, ang maraming mga galit," a Marcos supporter said in the report.<br /><br />

Others chose not to comment on the actions of the anti-Marcos groups, saying that would be improper while at the grave of "Apo."<br /><br />

"Nandito kami, parang pangit yata. Parang hindi ba, parang partial kami hindi ba," a female supporter said.<br /><br />

Most of the loyalists at Marcos' grave journeyed from Ilocos Norte on jeeps to pray for Martial Law victims, the report said.

Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday said the Philippines must not let another dictatorship happen, underscoring that "greed" for power and wealth is holding back work aimed at impoving the lives of ordinary Filipinos.<br /><br />
Speaking at the third annual Securities and Exchange Commission-Philippine Stock Exchange (SEC-PSE) Corporate Governance Forum on Tuesday, Robredo said "recent disturbing events" make her "long to speak ... about homegrown values," which she said she fears "may be becoming scant in our society."<br /><br />
"Things like integrity and honesty. Justice and the rule of law. Values that turn us into considerate, fair, and kind human beings. All these, simple values though they may be, are the bedrock and the essence of good governance and our fight to focus on the welfare of the bottom billion, who stare at poverty every single day," she said.<br /><br />
She said greed for power and wealth hampers work for the Filipino poor, "the invisibles—the last, the least, and the lost" was most apparent during Martial Law.<br /><br />
"In a political environment such as ours, the welfare of the ordinary Filipino is often shelved in the most terrible name of greed, in the name of greater wealth and power. In our history, this manifested most brutally in a dictatorship where rights were disposed of as swiftly as bodies were," she said.<br /><br />
"We must not let this happen again. We must not allow our people—especially the poor—to be rendered disposable, to be degraded as mere numbers in a game of blood and bullets," she added.<br /><br />
The late President Ferdinand Marcos placed the entire country under martial rule through Proclamation No. 1081 in September 1972.<br /><br />
The Filipinos later toppled the Marcos dictatorship through the famous people power revolt in February 1986.<br /><br />
The Vice President issued the remarks days after the burial of the late Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, which caught many by surprise on Friday.<br /><br />
Robredo, who staunchly opposes the said interment, scored the secrecy by which it was conducted, and in her sharpest statement on the matter reiterated that Marcos was no hero, but "a thief, a murderer, and a dictator."<br /><br />
This is a similar sentiment she shared with another group of business leaders over the weekend, where she said that people and politics and culture are "our main enemies" in striving for economic growth.<br /><br />
At the 2016 Philippine Retail Investors Conference, Robredo said "the risks we face now as a country have to do with divisiveness and senseless disregard for rule of law.<br /><br />
"Such divisiveness and political turmoil distract our economy from the work that would bring growth. And ultimately, it is those that are at the fringes of the economy—the last, the least, and the lost—who are the most vulnerable," she added.<br /><br />
Robredo underscored that "to truly move forward, we must hold a deep reverence for the past, and the truth of its sorrows and victories. We must honor the memory of those who fought for the country, and demand justice from those who betrayed it."

MANILA - (UPDATED) Ronnie Dayan, Senator Leila de Lima's former driver, on Tuesday night admitted to receiving money from alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa on behalf of the former justice secretary.<br /><br />
"Kay Kerwin...meron akong natatanggap para kay senadora po," Dayan said at a press briefing in the House of Representatives.<br /><br />
He said he turned over money from Kerwin to De Lima five times in 2014, or 2 years before the 2016 elections. <br /><br />
"Hindi ko po binibilang magkano inaabot sa akin," he said, adding the senator must have been aware of what was handed to him.<br /><br />
(I don't count how much is handed to me.)<br /><br />
"Natural. Sigurado alam niya dahil siyempre titingnan niya iyun," he said.<br /><br />
(Naturally. I'm sure she knows it's money because she would have to look inside the package.)<br /><br />
Dayan was arrested by authorities in La Union on Tuesday. He went into hiding after being accused of receiving drug money from Bilibid inmates meant for De Lima's 2016 senatorial campaign.

But De Lima's former driver denied being involved in illegal drugs and getting money from crime lords in the New Bilibid Prison as alleged by the convicts who served as witnesses in the House justice committee hearings. <br /><br />
He said he has never even met any of the convicts who claimed to have turned over money to him. <br /><br />
Dayan also said he has never used or sold illegal drugs. <br /><br />
"Talagang ayaw ko ng drugs na 'yan. Yung pag dawit sa akin sa drugs, gawa-gawa lang yun, hindi po totoo yun" he said. 
(I really don't like drugs. That attempt to link me to drugs, that's fabricated. That's not true.) <br /><br />
Dayan is set to testify in the House inquiry on the alleged narcotics trade inside the New Bilibid Prison, where he is expected to ask for immunity from lawmakers conducting the probe.<br /><br />
When asked what prompted him to come forward, he said he'd rather say at the hearing on Thursday.<br /><br />
"Yung mga nagsabi, never ko po nakita yang mga iyan sa Bilibid," he said. <br /><br />
"Di ko pa po masasagot," he said.<br /><br />
(I can't answer that yet.)<br /><br />
Meanwhile, Dayan said he will seek immunity from lawsuit from Congress. House Justice Committee Rey Umali said his panel will take on Dayan's request.<br /><br />
He encouraged Dayan to speak the truth, adding he will tap the services of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) in providing legal assistance to Dayan when getting his testimony.<br /><br />
Dayan admitted he still is nervous since he just got arrested and is suffering from some ailments. He added he is preparing to face the hearing on Thursday.

NO CONTACT WITH DE LIMA<br /><br />
Dayan said he has some misgivings with De Lima whom he has not contacted since the controversy about them broke.<br /><br />
Dayan said he heard nothing from the lady senator after he instructed his child to message her for financial assistance.<br /><br />
He said he cannot recall the last time he has talked to De Lima, but hinted this was about the same time the House summoned him to the hearing.<br /><br />
Dayan promised to explain why he went into hiding during the House hearing, but refused to answer whether he will protect De Lima in his testimony.<br /><br />
He also denied receiving any death threats.
House sergeant-of-arms Roland Detabali said he is considering two detention areas at the Batasan Pambansa premises for Dayan, adding he is mindful that he has coughs and colds.
Detabali assured the public Dayan will stay in the premises until further orders from the Committee on Justice.

During a press briefing in Camp Crame, Dayan, who was arrested in La Union earlier in the day, said the relationship lasted for seven years.<br /><br />

De Lima, a former justice secretary, had earlier admitted in an interview on "Bawal ang Pasaway with Mareng Winnie" that she once had a relationship with Dayan.<br /><br />
Dayan, who is married, used to work as driver-bodyguard for De Lima. Both are being linked to the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison, with Dayan as the alleged bagman.<br /><br />
Dayan was ordered arrested after he failed to attend the hearings of the House of Representatives regarding the illegal drug trade inside the national penitentiary.

Senator Leila de Lima on Tuesday appealed to authorities to spare her former driver, Ronnie Dayan, from the Duterte administration’s allegations that she benefited from the illegal drug trade inside the national penitentiary.<br /><br />
“Sa pagkakaaresto kay Ronnie Dayan, umaasa ako sa tamang pagtrato sa kanya ng mga kinauukulan. Ganoon na rin ang panawagan ko sa Pangulo para sa iba pang mga tetestigo laban sa akin katulad ni Kerwin Espinosa,” De Lima said in a statement, referring to the alleged bigtime drug lord now in police custody.<br /><br />
“Ako naman talaga ang habol ninyo. Huwag na ninyo silang pahirapan pa, mga kriminal man sila o hindi,” she added.<br /><br />
Dayan was arrested in San Juan, La Union shortly before noon Tuesday, ending more than a month of manhunt operations after an arrest order was issued by the House of Representatives.<br /><br />
De Lima had previously admitted having romantic affairs with Dayan, which she said lasted for a “few years.”<br /><br />
De Lima said her accusers should just file cases against her before the court.<br /><br />
“Huwag na rin sana ninyong gawing drama pa ang paninira sa akin. Isampa na lamang ninyo ang mga kaso sa husgado at doon ko na kayo haharapin,” she said.<br /><br />
De Lima said she is ready to face any court of law to prove that the allegations against her are not true.<br /><br />
She reiterated that she did not receive a single centavo from illegal drug operations.<br /><br />
“Sa tanang buhay ko, lalong-lalo na sa paglilingkod sa gobyerno, hindi ako nakinabang sa anumang katiwalian, dahil hindi ko po kailanman kayang talikuran ang tiwala ng sambayanan,” De Lima, former Justice secretary, said.<br /><br />
De Lima said she hopes that the truth will eventually come out.<br /><br />
“Sa ating sambayanang Pilipino, nawa’y patuloy po tayong magbantay at maging mapanuri sa mga nangyayari sa ating lipunan. Umaasa akong sa huli ay lalabas din ang buong katotohanan,” she said.

Police said Dayan was arrested Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Sitio Turod, Brgy. San Felipe, San Juan, La Union.<br /><br />
Dayan has not been seen in his residence in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan since President Rodrigo Duterte tagged him as De Lima's lover and alleged link to the drug lords detained at the New Bilibid Prison.<br /><br />

An arrest warrant was issued against Dayan after he failed to appear in a House inquiry on the alleged narcotics trade inside the national penitentiary, where several witnesses said De Lima asked convicted crime lords to sell drugs to beef up her campaign kitty for the 2010 senatorial elections.<br /><br />
De Lima last week admitted her past romantic affair with Dayan, but maintained that she never accepted drug payoffs.<br /><br />
Dayan's arrest came a week after the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption offered P1 million for information on the whereabouts of Dayan.

Alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa has linked Senator Leila de Lima to the illegal drug trade, Senator Manny Pacquiao said Tuesday.<br /><br />
Pacquiao, who talked with Espinosa for an hour after the latter's return to the country last week, said the younger Espinosa only linked one senator as having received drug money.<br /><br />
"Ayon sa kanyang sinabi sa akin ay si Leila de Lima," he said.<br /><br />
He said Espinosa allegedly received a call from someone who introduced himself as an aide of De Lima.<br /><br />

According to Pacquiao, Espinosa wanted to verify if De Lima herself knew about the transactions.<br /><br />
He said the younger Espinosa went to Baguio where he met De Lima.<br /><br />
"Yun daw, may mga pagkakataon na nagkikita dito sa MOA saka yung tao niya, tapos pinapunta siya doon sa Baguio... <br /><br />Pinapunta siya sa Baguio and then doon na-meet niya mismo si De Lima and then sinabi niya nagbigay siya doon," said Pacquiao.<br /><br />
He said Espinosa claimed to have given De Lima a total of P8-million, given monthly in staggered amounts.<br /><br />
De Lima earlier said she expected Espinosa to tag her in his alleged drug deals as part of Duterte administration's plan to malign her.<br /><br />
Police earlier produced a photo of De Lima with the Espinosa family at Burnham Park in Baguio City, which allegedly proved the connection between the Espinosas and the senator.<br /><br />
Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, who presided over the hearing as chair of the Public Order and Illegal Drugs Committee, pointed out that it is not uncommon for politicians to have their photos taken with the public.<br /><br />
"Sanay na sanay kami na lalakad lang kami d'yan, may magpa-picture. Hindi kaya ganoon ang nangyari kay Senator De Lima na nagkita sila sa Burnham, nagkataong nasa Baguio si Senator De Lima at nagpa-picture ngayon sina Kerwin?" he argued.

MANILA – Former President Fidel Ramos on Monday said the surprise burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani is a “step backwards” for the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.<br /><br />
Victims of human rights violations during the Martial Law period were enraged by the burial of the late dictator at the heroes’ cemetery on Friday. The Supreme Court majority decision in favor of the burial was still subject to a motion for reconsideration. <br /><br />
In a news conference, Ramos said the move of the Marcos family to hasten the burial of the patriarch, with the help of the police and military, is a “step backwards” for the Duterte administration.<br /><br />
"You must understand, that is just a happening in a series of happenings. The scheme of the Marcos family with the connivance of some elements of Armed Forces including the natonal police -- some only, not everybody -- is a step backwards for this administration in the sense that they are losing support, they are losing friends," Ramos said.<br /><br />
The Palace, the police and the military earlier gave conflicting answers on whether Duterte, who is currently in Lima, Peru for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, was aware of the burial.<br /><br />
The SC earlier rejected a petition by human rights victims to stop the transfer of Marcos’ remains to the same resting place of former presidents, national artists and heroes of war.<br /><br />
Marcos’ remains were transferred by helicopter from Ilocos Norte province, where it had been kept since it was brought back to the country in 1993. Marcos died while in exile in Hawaii in 1989, three years after he was ousted by a military-backed popular revolt.<br /><br />
Ramos was a key figure in the bloodless People Power Revolution in 1986, having turned his back on Marcos after serving as chief of the Philippine Constabulary.<br /><br />
Despite Duterte’s decision to allow the burial, Ramos said he does not regret convincing the long-time Davao City mayor to run for the country’s top post.

An opposition lawmaker asked the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday to order the "immediate" exhumation of whatever was buried as the "mortal remains" of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.<br /><br />
In a motion, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman called for the exhumation in light of the unannounced burial of the late strongman at the heroes' cemetery away from the public eye last Friday.<br /><br />
Digging up Marcos' "remains" is justified, Lagman said, because the SC decision on the burial has not yet attained finality and so as not to render the motion for reconsideration the petitioners intend to file moot and academic.<br /><br />
"The exhumation is also to effectively censure and discipline the public respondents and the Marcoses for their contumacious disrespect against the Honorable Supreme Court and its processes, even as the premature and surreptitious burial revealed in bold relief the despicable chicanery of the Marcoses which is an affront against the Filipino nation and the Honorable Supreme Court itself," the motion read.<br /><br />
Should the SC allow the exhumation, Lagman proposed a forensic examination in order to determine with certainty that the “mortal remains” of Marcos, not any other artifact or a wax replica of him, were interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.<br /><br />
"Verily, the controversial majority decision of the Supreme Court directed the burial of the 'mortal remains' of the late dictator Marcos in the Libingan ng mga Bayani. However, with the inordinate haste and stealthy circumstances which shrouded the interment, there is no certainty as to what was actually buried in the LNMB," the motion stated.<br /><br />
Lagman also notified the Court of his option to file a a petition for contempt against the responsible members of the Marcos family, military and police officials and personnel who "conspired and facilitated the premature and clandestine" interment.<br /><br />
Earlier in the day, petitioners former Bayan Muna Representatives Neri Colmenares and Satur Ocampo urged the high court to cite the Marcos' heirs and military officials involved in contempt for proceeding with the burial.<br /><br />
Anti-Marcos groups condemned what they called a "sneaky" move by the Marcos family and the government, claiming the burial was orchestrated to jump the gun on protests and possible reversal or deferral of the SC decision.

Former President Fidel Ramos on Monday said the surprise burial of the late Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani was an insult to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).<br /><br />
In a press conference, Ramos said he "felt very bad" about the surprise burial of the late dictator at the heroes' cemetery last Friday.<br /><br />
"I felt very bad, especially for the veterans... as well as a lot of members of the AFP," he said.<br /><br />
"It was an insult, a trivialization of the role the sacrifices of our Armed Forces, Coast Guard, veterans, retired, active," he added.<br /><br />
During the press conference, Ramos showed copies of the signed agreement entered into by his administration and the Marcos family in 1993. The signatories of the agreement were then Interior Secretary Rafael Alunan III for the government and former first lady Imelda Marcos.<br /><br />
He reiterated that based on the agreement, the remains of the late dictator will be flown from Hawaii directly to Ilocos Norte and that it should be buried in the same province.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Monday scored Senator Leila de Lima for predicting that suspected Eastern Samar drug lord Kerwin Espinosa will end up dead despite cooperating with the government.<br /><br />
“Mabuti pa siya at alam niya ang mangyayari kay Kerwin. Kami we are trying very hard to secure him at siya pinepredict na niya na papatayin. E bakit naman ganun ang pag-iisip ng isang tao,” Dela Rosa said at a press conference.<br /><br />
He reiterated his assurance to the public that the 160,000-strong PNP is ready to protect Espinosa.<br /><br />
“The whole organization, 160,000 of us, kung meron pang scalawag sa amin na gustong pumatay kay Kerwin maliit lang yan kumpara sa buong PNP. Mabuti pa siya at alam niyang mamamatay si Kerwin,  ako hindi ko alam kung mamamatay but ang alam ko we are doing our best to secure Kerwin Espinosa,” he said.<br /><br />
“Over our dead body kung mamatay siya (Espinosa),” Dela Rosa said.<br /><br />
In a press statement Sunday, De Lima said she does not think Espinosa’s life will be spared by his cooperation.<br /><br />
"This is my advice to Kerwin. Don’t ever think that your 'cooperation' will spare you your life. Sooner or later this government is going to make sure you end up like your father," said De Lima.<br /><br />
Rolando Espinosa, the mayor of Albuera, Leyte, was killed in his detention cell during an alleged shootout in the early hours of November 5.<br /><br />
Operatives of the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Region 8 said they had fired at the elder Espinosa in self-defense after he pulled a gun on them.<br /><br />
Kerwin, who was arrested in Abu Dhabi last month and arrived back in the Philippines before dawn on Friday, has described his father's killing as a "rubout." <br /><br />

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Sunday said Sen. Leila de Lima could expect the subpoena against her this coming week.<br /><br />
The subpoena will direct De Lima and the other respondents to attend the preliminary investigation on the four complaints being handled by a five-man panel of prosecutors over their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison.<br /><br />
"This coming week, the subpoena will be issued," said the Justice secretary, even as he reiterated that De Lima's recent admission of an affair with her driver-bodyguard Ronnie Dayan would bolster the cases against her.<br /><br />
Aguirre said De Lima's admission not only validated his "links" with Dayan, but could also be used in possible disbarment cases against her.<br /><br />
Aguirre had also announced last weekend that the subpoenas will be issued against De Lima.<br /><br />
Dayan is currently being hunted down by authorities for his alleged involvement in collecting drug money from Bilibid inmates supposedly for De Lima's senatorial campaign kitty.<br /><br />
Aguirre earlier said Dayan is hiding somewhere in northern Luzon and is being protected by politicians with alleged links to illegal drugs.<br /><br />
During the interview, Aguirre denied reports that Dayan had been arrested.<br /><br />
"Ang totoo po, I could not confirm [kung nahuli na siya] so sa tingin ko hindi pa [siya nahuli]," said Aguirre.<br /><br />
'
"I am standing by my information na may malaking politiko na nagkakanlong kay Ronnie Dayan kaya medyo nahihirapan ang ating NBI diyan," the Justice secretary added.<br /><br />

Sen. Leila de Lima on Sunday said she would not be surprised if the testimony of alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa this week in the Senate would be aimed at tarnishing her reputation.<br /><br />

In her unsolicited advice to the son of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., De Lima warned Kerwin that he may also end up like his father.<br /><br />

“This is my advice to Kerwin. Don’t ever think that your ‘cooperation’ will spare you your life. Sooner or later this government is going to make sure you end up like your father. I make the same prediction for Jaybee Sebastian,” De Lima said in a statement.<br /><br />

“I would not like to preempt what Kerwin will testify on, but I will also not deny that given everything that the government has thrown at me, it won’t be farfetched that he will just be another of the witnesses to be brought against me in their effort to destroy me,” she added.<br /><br />

Espinosa returned to the country under heavy guard last Friday from the United Arab Emirates, where he and his family fled to escape the Duterte administration’s war on drugs. Kerwin was arrested in Abu Dhabi last Oct. 17.<br /><br />
Sen. Panfilo Lacson, chair of the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs, earlier said he was hoping that Kerwin’s testimony would shed light on the real motive behind his father’s death. The older Espinosa and another inmate were killed in a predawn raid by the Criminal Investigation and Detection (CIDG) in Eastern Samar earlier this month.<br /><br />
Lacson said “jueteng” whistleblower Sandra Cam told him Espinosa confirmed the names of several people allegedly found in his father’s “blue book.”<br /><br />
De Lima said she will be listening to Espinosa’s testimony, but will let the people to judge his credibility “given the circumstances of the moment where drug lords/drug personalities left and right are being stabbed or killed whether they cooperate with the government or not.”<br /><br />
“As for the greatest mystery this government is trying to uncover, all this parade of witnesses has not proven a single thing, except its own deadly partnership with criminals and drug lords against me. It hasn't shown a single evidence of where the money is. Show us the money. I assure you there is none,” the lady senator said.<br /><br />

“No amount of browbeating the AMLC (Anti-Money Laundering Council) can make me a billionaire in its records overnight. In the meantime, maybe we should look at whose bank accounts are getting fatter as this great distraction of the stoning of De Lima is being performed to the delight of some of the public,” she added.<br /><br />

De Lima is being accused of coddling drug lords and benefiting from drug money at the New Bilibid Prison during her stint as secretary of the Department of Justice.<br /><br />

Following the surprise burial of late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos last week, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Sunday urged public vigilance in light of what it said is a plan to have the May election ballots recounted even without the direction of the Presidential Election Tribunal.<br /><br />
"The objective is to steal the vice presidency from VP [Maria Leonor] Leni [Robredo]," OVP Spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said in a statement.<br /><br />
"This fear and grave concern are exacerbated by the way the Marcoses sneaked the burial of the dictator from the Filipino public... To get what they desperately want, they have resorted to impunity and complete disregard for the rule of law," the statement read.<br /><br />
Marcos was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) on Friday noon, after his body was flown to Metro Manila from Laoag. The remains arrived at the cemetery past 11:30 a.m., and the burial rites were conducted shortly after.<br /><br />
Robredo on Friday already expressed her dismay over the burial, reiterating that Marcos is "no hero," and that "Ferdinand Marcos was a thief, a murderer, and a dictator."<br /><br />
"He is no hero. If he were, obviously his family would not have to hide his burial like a shameful criminal deed," she said.<br /><br />
Robredo's camp also last week told former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. that he should "accept the facts" after the Manila Prosecutor's Office dismissed his case over the script change in the server used in the May polls.<br /><br />
"There are times when we just need to accept the facts and the truth no matter how painful it might be," Bernadette Sardillo of Robredo's legal team said.<br /><br />
The cybercrime charges—dismissed for insufficiency of evidence and lack of merit—were filed by Marcos' campaign adviser, Abakada Partylist Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz, against two executives and a personnel of technology provider Smartmatic, as well as several employees of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).<br /><br />
The camp of the younger Marcos has already earlier asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to review the Manila Prosecutor's Office decision.<br /><br />
In the same statement on Sunday, Robredo's camp urged the public to be "more vigilant" moving forward.<br /><br />
"We urge everyone to be more vigilant about any extralegal movements during this dark time in our history and we thank those who remain committed to a free and just society," Hernandez said.<br /><br />
"We continue to have faith in our judicial system and we believe that any decision will be based on truth," she added.<br /><br />
