“He’s only proving that he’s a naïve child, looking at the world through distorted lenses when it comes to a lot of things, including foreign policy – absolutely no concept or care for the consequences of his actions,” said de Lima.

“Kapag naghanap ka ng kaibigan, hindi mo lang hinahanap yung mayaman, yung papautangin ka, yung maraming toy guns na ipapahiram sa’yo – tinitignan mo rin kung paano ka n’ya ita-trato bilang tao at kung kaya at handa s’yang ipagtanggol ka. Makipaglaro man sa’yo, wala namang assurance na igagalang n’ya ang pagkatao mo,” said de Lima.

De Lima, who faces an ethics probe at the Senate, also chose to ignore the latest broadside from President Duterte, saying, “I’ll let the people judge me.”

She reiterated she would not attend the inquiry to be conducted by the House of Representatives on the alleged proliferation of drugs at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) when she was the secretary of justice.
<br /><br />
“I initiated (drug raids at the NBP) so why will they investigate me? I found a way to expose the drug problems there. Don’t they know that I exerted certain efforts, steps after discovering all of those inside Bilibid?” she said.
<br /><br />
She also branded as unfair Duterte’s allegations that she benefited from prosecuting lawmakers in the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam by alleged mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.

De Lima faces an ethics complaint in the Senate in connection with her alleged links to illegal drugs.

Duterte on Tuesday tagged De Lima as the protector of drug lords operating in the NBP.
<br /><br />
Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III said a complaint was filed against De Lima on Monday by a private citizen. The complaint will be tackled by the chamber’s ethics committee, which he chairs.
<br /><br />
He did not give details on the complaint except that it was connected to allegations that De Lima was linked to drug lords operating from the NBP.
<br /><br />
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano told reporters he would ask De Lima to inhibit from presiding over the inquiry on extrajudicial killings led by the Senate committee on justice, which she chairs.

Marcos and his sister, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, were sharing the same stage where the president was speaking.</br></br>
Duterte introduced Marcos saying he would be vice president if he wins his election protest.</br></br>
"Si Bongbong, kung manalo siya sa protest niya, baka bago ang ating bise president," Duterte said before members of the Filipino community in Beijing.
(Bongbong, if he wins the protest, would be our new vice president.)</br></br>
Marcos lodged an election protest against Vice President Leni Robredo on June 29, just a day before the outgoing Camarines Sur congresswoman assumes the second-highest office in the country. </br></br>
He claimed that massive and "blatant" fraud took place, paving the way for the administration candidate to win the vice-presidential race.</br></br>
The son and namesake of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos lost to Robredo by around 200,000 votes. </br></br>
Duterte has openly expressed his support to Marcos and the family of the late dictator.

President Rodrigo Duterte has said the Philippines is willing to hold joint military exercises with China and Russia, while reiterating that he will no longer allow war games with longtime ally the United States.<br />

Duterte made the remarks in a TV interview broadcast on Monday, ahead of a four-day visit to Beijing aimed at improving ties that soured over competing claims in the resource-rich South China Sea.<br />

Asked if he would consider joint military drills with China or Russia, Duterte told with Hong Kong-based Phoenix Television: "Yes, I will. I have given enough time for the Americans to play with the Filipino soldiers."<br />
<br />
Duterte also repeated he would no longer allow joint exercises with the US, the Philippines' main defence ally and supplier of military hardware.<br />
<br />
"This will be the last. It has been programmed," Duterte said.<br />
<br />
Duterte has sought to dramatically reshape his nation's foreign relations since taking office on June 30, by pivoting towards China and Russia while moving away from the US.<br />

The Philippine presidnet has been angered by US criticism of his war on drugs, which has claimed more than 3,700 lives, and praised China and Russia for showing him "respect".<br />

But Duterte, signalling his shift is for pragmatic reasons, has also repeatedly ridiculed the US for what he sees as its weakening economic and military influence around the world.<br />

He has also stirred controversy after cursing US President Barack Obama ahead of a bilateral meeting, which was later cancelled. Later, he was quoted as telling the US leader to "go to hell".<br />

President Rodrigo Duterte has said the Philippines is willing to hold joint military exercises with China and Russia, while reiterating that he will no longer allow war games with longtime ally the United States.<br />

Duterte made the remarks in a TV interview broadcast on Monday, ahead of a four-day visit to Beijing aimed at improving ties that soured over competing claims in the resource-rich South China Sea.<br />

Asked if he would consider joint military drills with China or Russia, Duterte told with Hong Kong-based Phoenix Television: "Yes, I will. I have given enough time for the Americans to play with the Filipino soldiers."<br />
<br />
Duterte also repeated he would no longer allow joint exercises with the US, the Philippines' main defence ally and supplier of military hardware.<br />
<br />
"This will be the last. It has been programmed," Duterte said.<br />
<br />
Duterte has sought to dramatically reshape his nation's foreign relations since taking office on June 30, by pivoting towards China and Russia while moving away from the US.<br />

The Philippine presidnet has been angered by US criticism of his war on drugs, which has claimed more than 3,700 lives, and praised China and Russia for showing him "respect".<br />

While Secretary of Justice you saw it fit to disobey an order from the Supreme Court yet have the gall to insist now on the rule of law and due process. And you weren’t above the Aquino naming and shaming campaign either.<br /><br />

Are you really concerned about the dead, Senator? Are you really pro-women? Because right now, all I see is that you are pro- De Lima.<br /><br />

So yeah, I will defend my President as against your naked attempts to oust him from his position. And while I reserve the right to call him out on his mistakes, I will defend him first from the likes of you.

Ombudsman: No investigation on Sen. Leila de Lima

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales said, all evidence thrown against Sen. de Lima are all still allegations.<br /><br />

“It’s not going to happen because all are still allegations. There is still no lead that will prompt us to initiate our investigation,” Morales said.<br /><br />

Morales added that they will start the investigation if there is a complaint filed against the senator.<br /><br />

“Not yet because the police people had been tasked to conduct their own investigation and it will be exercise in futility if, we, ourselves initiate. Because the facts will come from them,” said Morales.<br /><br />

The Ombudsman is currently conducting a lifestyle check on five PNP generals involved in the drug trade.<br /><br />

Former president Fidel V. Ramos (FVR) critiques the Duterte admininstration anew in his Manila Bulletin column published Sunday (October 16).<br />
This will be the second time Ramos spoke ill after the current administration breached 100 days, he likened the entire country to vessel that he called, Ship Pilipinas. Only it’s a ship that sounds dangerously close to sinking.<br />
“Because we are all together onboard Ship Pilipinas – which is still leaky and slow-moving, because of internal strife and disunity, we all need to pull an oar or plug a leak (instead of adding more holes),” he wrote.<br />
Ramos also crossed his fingers that the ship’s occupants knew how to swim, as if bracing for something worse.<br />
“ALSO, ALL PASSENGERS MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM – IF THEY ARE TO SURVIVE IN CASE OUR SHIP SINKS. WHAT ABOUT LITTLE CHILDREN AND BABIES?? PATAY (DEAD)!!!” he wrote, using uppercase letters for emphasis.<br />
Last week, FVR described the first 100 days of the Duterte administration “a huge disappointment and let-down”. He also said in his headline-grabbing piece that the Philippines is “losing and losing badly” under the controversial Duterte.<br />
Ramos on Sunday offered insights on what “Digong” should do to put the Philippines back on track.<br />

The United Nations has warned President Duterte against making inflammatory statements that could encourage the commission of crimes against humanity in light of his controversial statement comparing his resolve to kill millions of drug addicts to the late German dictator Adolf Hitler’s purge of millions of Jews in the 1940s.<br />

In a statement issued Sept. 30, UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng expressed alarm at Duterte’s remarks, describing it as “deeply disrespectful of the right to life of all human beings.”<br />
<br />
Dieng said Duterte should exercise restraint in the use of language that could “exacerbate discrimination, hostility and violence and encourage the commission of criminal acts which, if widespread or systematic, could amount to crimes against humanity.”<br />
<br />
The UN adviser said the Holocaust, under which an estimated six million Jews perished on Hitler’s orders, was “one of the darkest periods of the history of humankind and that any glorification of the cruel and criminal acts committed by those responsible was unacceptable and offensive.”<br />

Dieng said Duterte’s remarks undermine efforts by the international community to avoid a repeat of such crimes.<br />
<br />
The Philippine President became controversial when he made a reference to Hitler while talking about his war against drugs.<br />
<br />
In his speech in Davao City after arriving from a two-day official visit to Vietnam, the President addressed his portrayal as a “cousin of Hitler” by critics.<br />
<br />
Noting how Hitler ordered the massacre of millions of Jews, Duterte said: “Now there is three million, there’s a three million drug addict. There are. I’d be happy to slaughter them.”<br />
<br />
“At least if Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have you know…,” he added, pointing to himself.<br />
<br />
“My victims, I would like to be all criminals to finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition,” Duterte said.<br />
<br />
Two UN-appointed human rights experts have earlier expressed concern about Duterte’s harsh crackdown on drug offenders, which has led to the deaths of more than 2,000 suspects since he started his term last June 30.<br />
<br />
In addition to watching his words, Dieng asked Duterte to support the probe on the reported rise of extrajudicial killings under his watch.<br />
