Veteran senators Kiko Pangilinan and Ralph Recto have supported Former President Ramos in his giving of advice to President Rodrigo Duterte who has been tolerated by most of his allies and advisers on his foul-mouthed tirades and remarks on foreign policy.
Pangilinan said he hopes Duterte would listen to Ramos, who chose to correct him.
“I hope President Duterte listens to FVR or as correctly pointed put by him we will lose. I hope President Duterte listens to FVR and correct him some ways because if he does not, as correctly pointed out by FVR we will lose,” he said.
Recto had the same sentiments, saying Duterte should pay heed to good advice.
“I agree with President Ramos. President Duterte should follow his advice to tone down his cursing, insults and use civilized language. The President should rethink his foreign policy direction of throwing away decades of military partnership and friendship with the US,”the senator said.

Ramos who urged Duterte's run for presidency, reprimanded him for his "Hitler" statement which made the President apologize to the Jews.
“So, what gives?? Are we throwing away decades of military partnership, tactical proficiency, compatible weaponry, predictable logistics, and soldier-to-soldier camaraderie just like that? On P. Du30’s say-so?” asked Ramos.
Recto said Duterte should now focus on reducing poverty and providing opportunities for the country's poor.
