President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday slammed a Catholic bishop critical of his administration, while claiming that the church official had two wives.

Speaking before the families of Philippine National Police-Special Action Force men killed in Mamasapano two years ago, Duterte went on a tangent to hit the church once more, this time focusing his ire of Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani.

"Ang opening remarks si Bacani. P— inang Bacani na iyan, dalawa pala ang asawa. Pareho ko. Parang mayor din ang buang. Tapos kung magsalita itong mga unggoy na ito, 'tang ina," said Duterte.

In his speech at the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy, Bacani had criticized the rising death toll in the Duterte administration's war on drugs, calling the PNP a "bringer of death."

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella earlier said Bacani's comments struck a nerve with Duterte.

During his tirade, Duterte also showed the book "Altar of Secrets" by late journalist Aries Rufo, which detailed indiscretions of priests in the Philippines.

Duterte has repeatedly spoken out against the Catholic church in the Philippines amid criticism of his administration's crime campaign. - See more at: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/596930/news/nation/duterte-slams-bishop-bacani-amid-criticism-of-drug-war#sthash.AGjmCDLV.dpuf
